ABOUT ME

My name is Marilyn Goodridge. I study public relations and advertising at DePaul University. Throughout college, I have gained a wide array of different interests, from advertising to venture capital and entrepreneurship. I've gained experience in creative campaigns, startup evaluation, and student organization leadership. Some of the work listed below is a mix of creative and strategic advertising from my classes, along with market research. I ultimately enjoy challenging myself and thinking differently.

 

Outside the classroom, you can find me engaged in DePaul's community by running three student organizations: Model United Nations, the Private Equity and Venture Capital Club, and the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization. Running these organizations has led me to communicate effectively with people and solve problems as they arise. When I am not studying or starting a new club, you can find me trying new restaurants in Chicago and doing yoga at my local gym.

SELECTED WORK

1. New Balance Running Shoes: Research Study

Assignment: Conduct an in-depth analysis of New Balance Running Shoes.

Approach: Utilized Qualtrics surveys, consumer research, perceptual mapping, factor analysis, conjoint analysis, and competitive market analysis to gather data and analyze findings.

Result: Delivered insights that identified key consumer perception gaps and informed strategic recommendations to strengthen New Balance's positioning around value, comfort, durability, and consumer confidence.

2. Sapparo Beer: Advertising Campaign

Assignment: Develop an integrated campaign for Sapporo Japanese Beer.

Approach: Created print advertisements using Canva, emphasizing the precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that go into every beer produced.

Result: Successfully increased brand awareness and engagement through innovative strategies.

3. United Airlines News Release: Writing Sample

Assignment: Draft a professional news release announcing United Airlines’ launch of new wellness, sustainability, and customer experience initiatives.

Approach: Focused on corporate communication while using AP-style writing and strategic messaging techniques to communicate key brand activations.

Result: Produced a professional news release that showed my ability to translate complex business initiatives into newsworthy content for the media.

4. DeMUN Conference Social Post: Creative Design

Assignment: Designed a promotional Instagram post for DePaul’s Model United Nations. 

Approach: Utilized Canva to deliver an eye-catching and functional design.

Result: Achieved a design that effectively communicates the message and meets client expectations.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

President & Founder, DePaul Model United Nations

June 2024 – April 2026

  • Founded DePaul's first Model United Nations conference, attracting over 300 attendees.

  • Increased club attendance by 567% through strategic recruitment and outreach initiatives.

  • Led a team of 6 executive board members and managed over 50 conference staff members.

  • Oversaw conference planning, partnerships, logistics, and organizational growth.

Co-Founder & Head of Venture, DePaul Private Equity & Venture Capital Club

  • Helped establish and grow the organization to more than 250 members.

  • Connected over 100 students with founders, investors, and industry professionals through networking events and panel discussions.

  • Contributed to programming, partnerships, and member engagement initiatives.

  • Re-founded and scaled the organization to approximately 150 members.

  • Led a team of 6 executive board members and coordinated club operations.

  • Organized 15+ speaker events, workshops, and networking opportunities annually.

  • Built relationships with more than 50 founders, investors, startups, and venture capital firms.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

​In my free time, I am passionate about yoga and trying new restaurants. Engaging in yoga helps me stay balanced while maintaining a busy schedule, whereas trying new restaurants lets me explore different foods from different cultures. Both activities teach me how to be open-minded and appreciate different perspectives. This interest not only brings me joy but also enhances my capabilities and outlook.
